Non starting 2.0 cr tdi

I have a 2008 a3 tdi 138. To cut a long story short I have replaced the engine as last owner damaged the old unit. All sensors and ancillaries are from the old unit. I have now purchased VCDS in order to get to the bottom of this. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Jamie

Hi thanks Uwe, yeah I'm going to take the flap off tomorrow and check it as I could not get it to work in the output test. Would this cause the non start as there is also a rom error on address 25 immobiliser code 16346

By no-start you mean no cranking at all, or starting and immediately stalling?

I might be wrong, but I think when you have Immo module defective, car will not start.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the cranking speed needs to be around 280rpm before the injectors will fire. Anyone know if this is true?

did you have the ECU modified at all??? A checksum error can cause this same issue. ROM error for immo sounds wierd too - possibly related.

I havn't touched the ecu but i don't know if somebody has in the past. Fitted new battery today and this is the new scan. I cleared all the dtc's but most came back

P2015 is fixed by a repair bracket from dieselgeek. Requires removal of inlet manifold but is only an hours job by anyone with half a clue what they are doing. Simple fix

Yeah I've seen them for a fraction of the price on ebay. Would codes p2015 and p2016 cause it not to start? The clocks have been sent away to be refurbished but the code 16346 is still there

UPDATE
Fitted the flap motor bracket which has solved the 2 codes p2015 and p2016. The car just constantly turns over with no sign of firing.
I have checked the canister and hpfp for metal debris clean as a whistle.

On the advanced measuring blocks the actual high pressure fuel constantly shows 8.0 bar and does not rise when cranking.

This value should be approx 300 bar at idle. Min 100-120 bar to start engine.
Check electrical lift pump(s) first.

Yes there is quarter of a tank in it. What's the best way of checking the pressure from the lift pump? It is working as I can hear it while cranking and on output test.

Lift pump making noise is not equal it is pumping fuel. Disconnect supply line @ fuel filter and check then by running output test.
