Cable won't connect

Hi all my hex can USB has vag 14 on the back what does this mean .I have installed v17.1 can't get the cable to link up in the options ports . Help me please

That means it's an illegally pirated "clone" of our product.

Got my money back from the ebayer.I'm after a genuine cable.new secondhand

My advice would be to get a brand new one from one of the authorised Ross-Tech distributors in the UK (bottom of this page).

If you end up buying a genuine second-hand VCDS interface cable off eBay then be aware that Ross-Tech charge $99 to transfer the support of a pre-owned cable to another user (see this page) so take this into account when deciding how much to pay, bearing in mind that a brand new HEX-V2 cable costs £225 from a UK distributor including full support from Ross-Tech. Based on some of the prices I have seen second-hand genuine cables advertised for on eBay it may work out cheaper to just buy a brand new cable if you want support for it which IMO is invaluable when you own a complex piece of kit like this.

I second buying new - used (genuine) ones aren't usually that cheap anyway.

Plus, it doesn't take too many dealer visits to pay for itself, and VW's like dealer visits!

I trust myself more than the dealer and I'm not all that clever, either :-)

I forgot to include that you'll also get a full years warranty on a brand new cable in case of any defects. With a second-hand cable you'll be on your own if something goes pop.
