Hi, I am helping a friend with a vw crafter LT3, the abs light is on, along with traction control, I have tried to scan ABS module (03) but get a no communication error, so I suspect faulty abs, but changing it for another we get the same. I tried a full scan selecting crafter from the auto scan list and it scans the van ok, but there is no attempt to scan the ABS module 03, so my question is where is the abs module in vcds for the crafter? Can I scan the abs using vcds?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Best regards

Andy

If i was in your shoes id be getting my head into the fuse box and checking for any main abs controller fuses have blown and/or if its easy (get yourself a wiring to make it easier) test controller power and grounds, thats what i would do, if they all turn out good test CAN lines preferable with an oscilloscope, if there good then it can only be the controller, thats usually the approach i take.

I was working on a crafter last week and on my autoscan it contacted address 95 ESP

Hope ive been some help

I think it should be module 95, but my vcds wont connect to it??, it seems the crafter is a Mercedes and not a VW, I'm used to Audi VW models!! they make more sense :)

we fitted another (2nd hand) ABS module and still no connection in 3 or 95, what pins at the ABS controller can I check for power / grounds?

also looks like this central electric module B4 causes power issues and its the only module I cannot clear the error:

do we know if its linked to the ABS?

any info or ideas appreciated

There could be a problem with ignition switch for the LT3.

If you have all power and grounds for the ABS module, it is most likely a bad weld joint within the module from pins to board.

There are dozens of videos on YouTube..........

ok update,

We tried a replacement abs, still no communication to module 95, tried a replavement LT3 Central Elec module- (address B4) this removed the 90B2 - Control module: Faulty error, but gave us 2 new ones

90EE - LIN bus: Timeout
Test Complete - Active/Stored

90ED - LIN bus: Error
Test Complete - Active/Stored

still no connection to ABS address 95,

I checked and get 2 x 12v and 2 x ground at the plug to the abs, not sure how to test CAN lines, any ideas?

I unplugged abs plug and scanned with vcds and engine module threw up abs no communication errors so the abs must be alive to some extent

the

I think his leads me back to the ABS module having a fault,

I'm thinking next step send pump away to get tested, any recommendations where to send it

or any other things to try feel free to suggest,

we still have ABS, ESP and 1 other error light on and MOT due!! :(

I can clear all errors but they come back when the ignition is off and back on, the central locking tries to open the doors and this stores all the door emergency open errors

I can clear all errors but they come back when the ignition is off and back on, the central locking tries to open the doors and this stores all the door emergency open errors

best regards

Andy

It went to abs specialist, he had oscilloscope on it and fixed it, not sure exactly what was done it, was a friends van but it was away for a while to get repaired, I think a brand new abs pump was fitted too

I'm wondering why those VAG codes have letters in them, as far as I know EODB II codes start with a letter B, C, P or U.

It wasn't that far out of date on Sunday, 26 June, 2016 when the scan was done. ;)

The modules in that snippet are not emissions-related and thus of no concern to the generic OBD regulations. Moreover, those modules are MBZ (rather than VAG) and that's exactly how the factory scan too shows those codes -- in hexadecimal.
