What is the best response to fault code 6352 (Misfire detected)? Should I replace the Ignition transformer or could it as well be an injection problem?

The fault re-occurs on the same cylinder (cylinder 3) every time it is reset as soon as the engine is revved up. Tried swapping ignition plug between cylinder 3 and 4, the fault stays on cylinder 3.

Diagnosing so far:
- Swapping spark plug for cylinder 3 and 4 (and clear codes).
Spark plugs have been used for quite a while (whithin service schedule though, looks okay to me (I'm not terrible experienced though)).
- Test driving after swapping, already from start engine run uneven, fault codes reoccurred in 100 meters / 30 seconds.

Fuel trims condition:
- Ocular inspection finds nothing notable (otherwise done no tests on fuel trims)

Ignition coil constitution:
- This car have a combined coil/coils/distributor example image

Sounds like a dirty wire loom.
Be advised this is a waste spark type design, so if the coil is bad or shorted it usually knocks the opposed zylinder on shared power-stage.

Change the plugs and consider rubbing the wires out with RTV silicone and loomed with spiral wrap to save money.
Spray secondary ends with cleaner and anti corrosion.

Just sapping and reseating may have subsided the condition.

Inspect coil for cracks and also clean + RTV to stop moisture.

Right, Now tried some more diagnosing:
- Replaced all four spark plugs.
- Cleaned the wires and made sure no corrosion at connectors, cables look good, dry and clean
- Spark (when cranking) looks similar (good) on cylinder 1 and 3
- Checked compression approx. 125 psi on both cylinder 1 and 3 (3 being the problematic one)
- Observed engine running:
- - ran nicely on idle when cold,
- - the occasional misfire when idling warm.
- - Revving up slowly invokes fewer missfires,
- - pressing the accelerator hard/quick and the engine runs quite poor.

SOLVED: VW Beetle model year 2012 throwing fault code 6352 and 11836

Right, I turned to a workshop for help. They replaced the spark plug wires now it runs smooth.
I regret I didn't swap wires when i was at it, not least since Jack@europarts pointed out the wires may be the problem.
Anyhow, eventually the car is running, I have gained some knowledge and hopefully this mail thread can be to some help for the next person having a 6352 fault code.

Hi,
I'm a owner of beetle 2012 1.2TSI
I got the same problem as you with ABS (ECU) and IGNITION CYL. 3
1. ESP,ECU,ABS...warning lights get on... some problem with stabilizator. In the same time my car start running very BAD. I think it get in some LIMP-mode.. NO POWER.
2. I have to drive home....drive the car like that in LIMP-mode. After 20 km the ENGINE-warning light appeir.
3. Now I have 2 problems. Exactly like yours.

It feels like the ABS-brakes-problem get LIMP-mode. And that start my IGNITION-problem. I'm confuised....

Someone outthere knows what happens when the car running in LIMP-mode ? ....take down the ignition like high-rew-stop?...hope not
When you "josper" solved the problem.... did you solved the problem with ABS-brakes in the same time ?

Doubt the ABS is related to the limp mode and missfire. Limp is merely to stop you from damaging things further, mainly to save the CAt, it is all in the end about the Cat when you have a missfire.

Jef or somebody will want you to post a scan.

C2 standing still , idle

Yup the ABS is just getting a message due to not being able to monitor TQ request for ESP/ASR and needs the misfire vacated.

Fix the misfire..........

A compression check is mandatory & with oil squirt to bring it up before you wipe the rings!
You better check oil sump for fuel contamination!

SOLVED !! :) STEP E

Solved the problem ! ...it was the spark-plug-wire

STEP E
E1 new sparkplug and spark-plug-wire on cylinder 3.
E2 Clear all DTCs
E3 Startup and testrun for 15 minutes. Some hard acceleration, spinning wheels and locked breaks.
E4 No fault-symbols at the dashboard

The biggest thanks to you Jack, this forum and all other outthere. That help me alot. :)
Now I know that engine-problem have prio 1 before all other electric. (right?!... in this case)


Jack... I'm not forgot your advice:
- just order new set of plugs and wires.
- find just my compression-test-tool in my garage, going to made a compression test
- also want to make the firmware update....
- if I'm not writing furder in this case.... then everything is OK. Otherwise I'm been in touch.


One question...
Component: SIMOS10.12AH10 2177 <<<<<<<<<< Firmware update needed 5428 or higher!
Is that possible to do for my self with VCDS? ...or do I have to contact authorized VW-workshop?
