Hi Everyone, I hope someone is able to provide some input on issues that I am experiencing.
2 days ago, I ran fuel cleaner through the fuel system and afterwards, the car started and idled fine for over 30 minutes. I shut it off and cleaned up tools. went to start it back up and was quite hesitant but it started up.
I went for a drive and the engine was misfiring badly. constant bucking and misfire, the misfire were quite violent. anyway, the next day I scanned the codes(which I do not have to post because I cleared to see if it came back).
the codes were random/mult cyl misfire, cyl 5, cyl 6, and cyl 7 misfire detected. the next set of codes were fuel rail system pressure too low..
but at idle the fuel supply pressure is around 6.xBar and the High pressure rail is around 25Bar with the in-tank fuel pump at 52%
so I was going to take off the intake and test resistance on the injectors as I though maybe it was a stuck or failed injector. but I started at the HPFP.. I disconnected and disassembled these, cleaned and reassembled and put back on engine. the Cam followers showed no sign of excessive wear.
engine start up fine. still misfired slightly but cleared up for the most part. this time it felt like an ignition related misfire. scanned code and showed only cylinder 5. so down to one cylinder. I went for a drive to see if it would clear up.. which it didn't. the next code that came up was fuel rail pressure too high, outside spec.. I'm like WTF..
so I cleared it. ran adaptation(took 40 minutes to do this because it kept timing out).
so I let the car sit again with key off. about an hour later went to start it up and same thing misfire, cyl 5 and disables cylinder. with fuel rail pressure too low.. when the car warms up to Operating Temp, I shut engine off and back on and idles fine, drives fine under partial throttle. under WOT will hiccup at higher rpm.
so when engine is cold its constantly misfiring. when warm/hot it misfires less and idles normally.
