Big surprise when I wanted to pull out of the garage last night. Car would not start. 3 beeps and the Brake light flashing.
I had come home from work 2 hrs earlier and all was fine. I plugged in VCDS. See below.

Overnight I unplugged the battery - maybe it would reset something. It did! New message it cluster: "PRESS CLUTCH PEDAL TO START ENGINE" - mind this is a CVT...

Any help appreciated. Thank you!

TCM seems to be MIA. Check fuses first.

Interesting comment about the TCM fuse. Is it located in the fuse box driver side left? I will check them all and reseat them.
I had the TCM rebuilt 2 years ago (BBA Reman). Was good for 20K miles so far.

Hmmm.... so the running joke to know what kind of transmission is in a car like yours... 01V or 01J? Well, is the transmission broke? Yes, then it is a 01J. The "CVT" trans has one minor issue... they fail.... often.

OOMY guess says you are in the market for 8E0-910-155-F

Ok - it's running again - I was ready to junk it.

Thanks Uwe for the fuse suggestion - that was it!
I did not think it would be so easy to immobilize an Audi: Just pull fuse 31!

Thanks for suggestions from other participants as well.
I know the CVT can have issues. But also I found that if you get your TCM rebuild and keep changing the tranni fluid every 40K miles you can get a lot of miles from it. Of course I am not running that car hard.
