Hello,
can anybody help me with a Golf 5 cruise control retrofit information. The Golf is MY09 1.9TDI, Chassis Type: 1K, and Steering wheel: 1K0 953 549 DA. According to the Steering Wheel Control Module Versions table my module has no Steering Angle Sensor and LIN is not supported. So here are my questions:
1. Do I need a Steering Wheel Control Module that supports LIN and which one would be suitable for my car if mine is not suitable? My assumption would be 1K0-953-549-CF (Type 2 / SW 0111 / Highline), but still I would need confirmation by someone more experienced, that this one would do the job.
2. Do I have to do anything about the Steering Angle Sensor especially if I Use The 1K0-953-549-CF Control Module?
3. What is the proper Cruise Control Switch/Lever - does it have a specific part No. and how would I know which one is proper for me?
Would be very grateful if anyone could help me with answers to these questions.

Here is part of the scan if it can help:

1. You need at least midline SW controller, that suports cruise. LIN is only needed when you're retrofitting Multi-Function Steering Wheel. And there you need to determine the type of LIN it uses. Older 8 button ones LIN1.3 and newer LIN2.0

2. No. Steering angle sensor is built in 44-Steering assist(Electrical power steering)

Thank you for the prompt answer and valuable information.
I have some more questions to make everything very clear:
Will any midline ot highline controller (1K0-953-549 xx) be ok, should it match the existing software level and slipring? Then I believe I should look for a model without Steering Angle Sensor?
Thank you in advance.

You need to match slipring and angle sensor. In some cases if you have AT trans. you also have to match the ability to control lock solenoid, but every other aspect is solely on your needs.

Thanks again, it is all clear now. I'll post the results after I collect the parts and do the job.

This thread is rather old but the OP provided feedback recently and we updated that Mk5/6 SWCM Wiki page. 1K0-953-549 CD in addition to a LIN 1.3 MFSW from a B6 Passat were successfully configured.
