Golf MK6 LED Lighting Upgrade - How to get rid of Dash Light Malfunction

Can anyone help me with eliminating the dash Light Malfunction Indicator. I installed LEDS in the front side parking lights (inside the high beam housing), license plate, and the reverse lights. The codes in VCDS are for the front side parking lights are 02394, 02395 and for the reverse lights are 01518, and 01519.

LED Taillight Recoding Summary

Here is a summary of the information I've tracked down from various reputable sources (including my LED supplier), regarding the recoding required to remove the bulb-out warnings that are raised when regular tails are replaced with OEM LEDs.

In all cases, the byte to code is byte 18 of the Central Electrics module. Access it in VCDS via 09-Cent Electrics -> Coding 07 -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 18.

What I would like to do is eliminate all the Light malfunction for the lights I have put in as well as future ones I put in such as the tail light bulbs, fog lights, etc.

When using the Central Electronics long coding helper, do you see any tick boxes for byte 18? I suspect you probably don't.

On some of the older models there were some "Cold Bulb Diagnosis" options under byte 18 that you could switch on and off but those seem to have disappeared on the newer cars, and to make matters worse, the undocumented "magic byte" 18 now appears to be masked with "00" so you don't know what it's actual value really is. This means if you decide to try and play around with different byte 18 values, you have no idea what original value to set it back to again if your attempts fail.

You may end up having to admit defeat with your only realistic option being to use error-free CAN-BUS LEDs. However, even some of these turn out not to actually be error-free so it can end up being a bit of a trial-and-error exercise to find some that do actually work error-free with your particular car. Also, the newer VAG cars unfortunately seem to have a more sensitive bulb error detection system on them. So whereas some of the earlier cars reportedly don't flag up errors with certain error-free CAN-BUS LEDs, you can find that the later cars don't necessarily work error-free with the same LEDs. The alternative is to fit some of the large high wattage (~50w) load resistors that you connect in parallel with the LED to create a bigger current draw. This then fools the BCM into thinking that everything is OK. However, be aware of the heat that some of these load resistors produce. This means the mounting and location of them is important from a safety point of view so that any heat can be properly dissipated without the risk of something being melted.
