I scanned a 2007 Audi Q7. In auto mode it kept saying I was using an unlicensed version and would only scan address 1 and 2. Then I would get the error message. My software is licensed and I use it on my 2005 VW Phaeton. I was able to read each address manually and clear the faults but could not run in auto mode. Typical scan is shown.

Is there an issue with this version of the software or do I have to reload.

I'm confused. I don't see any HEX-NET in our records for you, nor does that scan appear to have been made with a HEX-NET.

What kind of computer are you using this on?

Oops. My mistake. I meant to say using a HEX+CAN cable. Sorry for my confusion.

OK, I've edited the thread title.

Now please tell us what kind of computer you are using this on. Make, model, CPU, RAM, version of Windows, and what location you have VCDS installed in.

Software installed on C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\ on a Dell Latitude D630, Intel T7250, 4Gb running Windows XP SP3. Again, software works fine in auto mode for my VW Phaeton. A second issue is I could not get the OBD mode to work when trying to scan a 2009 MB ML350. It just hung up.

Scratching my head. Computer sounds reasonable. Do you have easy/regular access to either of these vehicles?

MB in garage. Q7 is currently at the dealer with a bad belt pulley and a vacuum leak. It has an extended warrantee.

OK, connect computer to MB, go to [Options], set Debug Level to 1024, and click [Apply]. Then try to connect to it using generic [OBD-II]. After it fails, look in the Debug sub-folder (typically C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Debug\) for a file named DEBUG-OBD.DLM and send it to Support@.... Please include a link to this thread in your e-mail.

Uwe: My question is related to your suggestion albeit it's a little off-topic. But if you will allow a minor diversion, I will ask it: I've read your suggestion above on a couple of occasions now and I'm intrigued! Without wanting to pry into secret RT stuff, can you explain what debug 1024 does - please!

It records the raw data being exchanged between the car and VCDS.

Am now getting same error with auto mode on VW Phaeton that worked perfectly earlier. Did not use obd-ii. Am sending debug file. If you specifically need obd file I can rerun.

Yes, but the guy who needs to look at that has been a bit preoccupied with other issues.
