I was thinking that testing voltage to amp pins would be sufficient, but as you have described that I need to test correctly, what kind of tester would do this and is this done through the pins?

T32h/1 - Power
T32h/2 - Ground

Test them both. Put a load of 10A on the wire, if it passes that test, wire is OK and amp is bad.

Thanks Golfi. How do I put a load of 10a on the wire. Is that just a case of staring the engine?

You take a powerful lamp, 120w for instance. Because of the ohm law P=u*1 and I=P/U
So it makes I=120W/12v, I=10A.

Hope you understand. :) PS bulb has to be rated for 12v. :)

Sorry Golfi. My brains fried, I have no idea what all that meant. I have read it five times and the more I read it the confused I get.

Is there an easy way to tell me what to do without any complicated stuff.

Sorry I need an idiot guide.....

Put 120W/12v or similar power bulb at the pins of amp. If the bulb lights up fine and bright your wiring is good.

But i would suggest at this point, to seek out a help of experienced electrician.

This is what I have done so far. I have a pencil voltage tester that tells me the voltage when I touch a live wire. I unplugged the amp and I found that when I first did it I got a 12v reading off the the first pin and nothing from the second and then the power went down totally. What I found was that when I unplugged the amp, the mmi went blank and the power cut off to all the units with the amp like DVD, radio and tv. I don't get any readings at this point, I'm guessing when it's plugged out, it cuts the power to the cable

Can anyone help and give me an easy guide to test my amplifier with a voltage tester pencil
