Charging Help PLEASE!! - Im stumped... Alternator only active when VCDS plugged in!

Car: 2011 Audi A4 B8 Premium Plus S-Line
Manufacture Date 01/11
Mileage 130938kms

Problem: Alternator seems to only charge when VCDS is connected prior to starting. Reads 13.2v at idle when VCDS is plugged in but drops to battery voltage 12.xxV once car is restarted without VCDS plugged in. If I disconnect VCDS it will stay at 13.2 until I turn car off again.

Problem started after i did an oil change and used a snap on scanner to reset service interval. Maybe affected car?? I didnt go into long coding on that POS.

What Ive changed:
Battery X3 , (2 New Varta and one Optima Red top to be sure)
Coding serial # changed every time another was put in.

Alternator x3 , 1 New Audi, My original rebuilt, and a salvage one.

Battery ground cable with management module x2 1new, 1 salvage

DIAG: (Please disregard the audio codes...I have a custom setup which ive disconnected for all intensive purposes)

It almost seems live VCDS is waking up the part of the computer that initiates the charging.

ALSO: Signal wire at alternator 8.4v not charging 10.0v when awake.

I'll do a little viewing to grasp the understanding of the systems. I've been working on cars for the last 20 yrs but this one got me. Im planning to drop the car off at the dealership on monday to get the computers re-programmed. I dont know im just so frustrated right now. So far im just driving the car with VCDS active and its charging. I need to figure out what system actives this alternator.

Audio control issues because I have an Android nav system installed and using the factory amplifier to run another amp for my sound system. (I'm an audiophile and the b&o didn't cut it) that's been installed for 2 yrs without issue.

Control head issue Is because the factory display was replaced with an aftermarket unit by RSNAV. It's never given me a problem. The car has never given me a problem since I bought it 4 yrs ago.

Also, I have removed the audio mod to do further testing so the factory control head is now in it.

As for programming ... I've never touched the coding... I just bought the vcds to help me diagnose this issue. I wanted to know what I was up against before I took it to the dealer to diagnose. I dint want them saying my computers were bad and needed replacing without me knowing if they were still good or not. As for ignition switch.. it's a push to start .. key never hits the switch. I have a spare push button and swapped that too.

The only thing I can think of was the service reset after the oil change using the snap on Solus scanner .. it's the only place my head goes back to. Which was done exactly 2hrs before the car died on me.

When I was driving after the oil change I got a "please start engine to charge battery. System will shut down shortly" message . I was on the highway doing 120kph .. the car has no idea it's running I guess.

Thanks for chiming in. The car acts normally when vcds is active prior to starting. Been driving it all day like that to test. The minute I unplug it and restart ...just runs on batt power and I get the battery warning message. I was hoping vcds could help me. But am now more frustrated than before. Lol

Thank you good sir. I'll try that in the am. It's a bit late now...and the car is parked right in front of my 80yr old landladys bedroom window...no need for her to hear me out there and start yelling and throwing things at me! Haha.
But who am I trying to kid..This issues consumed me for a week. Odds are I'll wake up at 2am and try it.

Be sure to have VCDS configured for WSC, Tester number, And Importer number!

If it doesn't work return coding to what it was before in 0x09.

Well... I wish I could say it worked, but I cant. Car runs normally but it didnt wake up the charging system at all. I let the battery hit 11.5 volts at idle to see if it would engage.

For some reason I'm steering into the direction of section 19- can gateway.

Okay set 0x09 back and do you have a legacy scan of this car from way before this happened?

When does the alternator field and charge upon communication with which controller or is by just plugging in the OBD2 port or a query of gateway?

Please advise.....

Has been set back to how it was. I don't have a previous scan of the car. I've never had VCDS until now, I bought it to help diagnose this problem.
The alternator engages when I have vcds plugged into obd2 port only. Doesn't need to be in any particular mode. As long as obd2 is plugged in and the program recognizes the car it charges.
Procedure to get charging:
Plug in vcds
Turn on ignition
Start vcds program to get to main menu
Start car while vcds still plugged in and program active
13+ v while running

At this point I can unplug the cable and the car is fine until I shut it off. After which it thinks the car isn't on hence the "start car to charge battery , system will turn off shortly" message while I'm already driving and car is on.

Also to note: voltage at obd2 port reads same as battery and the CAN high and low signals appear to be within a reasonable level. It's all been checked.

What is the status of every fuse in the car and connected to the gateway?

I'm starting to lean toward possible bad BCM or Gateway from blow fuse/broken wire and VCDS somehow is linking the CAN as a termination when plugged in to wake the LIN.

Kind of like condition when an exciter won't start a D+ when the light or cluster is damaged in earlier cars.

All fuses checked in all locations. All ok. Even swapped out relays to be sure.
One thing I discovered was if I unplug the alternator connection on the back and rev to 3000rpm the alternator wakes up. When I plug back in, it goes dead again. (This process was checked on more than one alternator.)

Isolate with test overlay to control component.

This doesn't really answer my question. What do you mean by "Is active"? Is just just plugging your interface in enough? Or do you have to communicate with the car?

Sorry I should have been more thorough with my answer.

If VCDS is communicating through the OBD2 port with the car when the car is on accessory and i hit the start button to start the engine, the alternator wakes up.
If VCDS is not connected through OBD2 port, the car will not charge and is only relying on battery power.
