Hi guys,
I bought second hand golf Mk5 2l Fsi and it keeps going in the limp mode. Also it seems when that happens the mill light (engine check light) does not come up on dash.. It seems the mill light has been disconnected (it never comes up or is it visible). The car starts and engine runs fine until you turn the car/key off. After that it can not be started until it has 1 hour break. There are other issues below listed and they have all been addressed, but Im stuck on :
00576 - Terminal 15
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
Also from address 46 on-wards , including Cent and doors can not be reached? dont know why?

Any help is appreciated.

Al

I have done 80% of those checks, : all the fuses and Relays followed all the components with electrical guide in ELSA. Replaced the ignition switch and found the same error repeating.
Mainly error 15 and EGR issue. I have done the same testing with blocked EGR. Same result.
Convenience module cannot be reached. This and the last 46, 52, 56, 62, 72 , can not be reached .... not sure why.
Im not getting the engine MIl light comming on at all, but do get some PCB light come on

Also below codes are recorded every time I re-connect battery and start the engine. Its starts like new every time I reconnect the battery. Engine runs perfect until I turn it off.

All the errors clear in the VCD but the 3 in bold . EGR system is the reacquiring one. It seams the flaps dont stay either clothes or open in position.
After you turn the engine off you wont start it again without disconnecting battery and waiting 30min. Only once starts. It seems the limp mode somehow starves the engine and suffocates it then shuts off.

I have not looked at the Alternator relay . It didn't give me a cause to ? I didn't find anything on my codes from VCDs forum. Im waiting for teh Rossteck guys to get back to me...

I can clear all but ones in bold. What should I be looking into next. EGR valve , exhaust oxygen sensor?

more help required, thanks :)

Yeah, job for tomorrow.
Not sure why alternator control module would be throwing error 15? And why the rest of the modules ( convenience ) cant be reached.

For some reason, I'm suspecting the ECU...

cheers

That's interesting as I have replaced both.
Again the interesting thing is ignition and engine will behave perfectly and run smooth , but only once.
It seems to log this error I thing in ECU.

My VCD output tests Give me 4 DTC sported codes

DTC02195 - Failure Mode 009 MIL triggered: NO Active YES Stored:YES
DTC02403 - Failure Mode 012 MIL triggered: NO Active YES Stored:YES
DTC02576 - Failure Mode 012 MIL triggered: NO Active YES Stored:YES
DTC02061 - Failure Mode 012 MIL triggered: NO Active YES Stored:YES

Check the Throttle valve and wiring + ECU for damage or water ingress causing an undefined condition for a terminal 15 back feed.

I'm at this stage thinking someone unplugged, not from the 16 pin connector as I did check that when I was replacing ignition.
Dash console looks bit damaged on the edges. I don't know whats to gain by removing it ?! It just my guess until I take it apart.

Sorry about asking, but what is FOD abbreviated for?

Foreign Object Damage. You can hover your mouse over such abbreviations to see the meaning.

Jack just tends to use FOD as much as possible (I like it but I can understand if it's confusing). In this case he means to check for actual FOD such as water damage, but also tampering or other 'it didnt leave the factory like that' conditions. The MIL should work and it doesnt, so even if you dont think that could be related, its an obvious fault and should be repaired or cluster replaced first.
