Hi all.

Fairly new to vcds and wondering if there are any experts on here who could help me out.

I've just retrofitted cruize control to my car and coded it in to the steering wheel module and engine modules (think I got the option for the steering wheel wrong initially). All seems to be working ok and the cruize control is operational.

However; when I run a scan I now have a Can Gateway malfunction and a new module showing on the installation list that wasn't there before: 77-Telephone. See scan result below;

Gateway Installation List: 1K0 907 530 L

01-Engine -- Status: OK 0000
02-Auto Trans -- Status: OK 0000
03-ABS Brakes -- Status: OK 0000
04-Steering Angle -- Status: OK 0000
08-Auto HVAC -- Status: OK 0000
09-Cent. Elect. -- Status: OK 0000
15-Airbags -- Status: OK 0000
16-Steering wheel -- Status: OK 0000
17-Instruments -- Status: OK 0000
19-CAN Gateway -- Status: Malfunction 0010
22-AWD -- Status: OK 0000
25-Immobilizer -- Status: OK 0000
42-Door Elect, Driver -- Status: OK 0000
44-Steering Assist -- Status: OK 0000
46-Central Conv. -- Status: OK 0000
52-Door Elect, Pass. -- Status: OK 0000
55-Headlight Range -- Status: OK 0000
56-Radio -- Status: OK 0000
62-Door, Rear Left -- Status: OK 0000
72-Door, Rear Right -- Status: OK 0000
76-Park Assist -- Status: OK 0000
77-Telephone -- Status: Not registered 0001

When I go into the Gateway module and look at the installation list module 77 for the telephone is not ticked. It shows the following codes in the Gateway module:

Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 1K0-907-530-V3.clb

I've cleared all DTCs and these two remain in red. Although the car seems to be working fine I'd like to get rid of any red/malfunction codes if possible (I like a nice clean scan!).

If I tick the Telephone in the Gateway module installation list and clear the DTCs the Gateway malfunction coding issue is corrected and the telephone status changes to 'OK', so the two seem to be related.

So I guess I have a few questions:

Why has the Telephone module appeared in the installed list and can I get rid of it again? I had expected this to disappear when I 'save coding' after unticking the option in the Gateway installation list, but it is still showing as installed - this doesn't appear to be working as I imagine it should.
Is there any detriment to having the Telephone showing as installed?
Does 'Telephone' actually mean something that I don't think it does - ie is it related to the now installed CCS somehow?

I do have an aftermarket Kufatec Fiscon bluetooth installed, but this isn't new and isn't on the CAN, so I can't imagine it is related, but just thought I'd mention it for completeness.

Any help or thoughts would be really appreciated.

Cheers.

Are you really sure that Kufatec Fiscon is not on the CAN? See if module 77 opens and displays its info. If it does, register module 77 and you should be good to go.

I had Fiscon in my Mk5 and it most definetly was on the CAN.

If the Gateway receives messages from a module that isn't registered in its installation list, it will flag an "Incorrectly Coded" DTC.

Not certain about the Kufatec being on the CAN - will check the telephone module when I get home. This would explain the faults shown though.
I still can't understand why the Telephone wasn't showing on the installed module list on the first scan I did a couple of weeks ago though - maybe if the Bluetooth on my phone wasn't on then it doesn't show?

It still displays, even with my phone Bluetooth turned off.

So; I don't fully understand it, but I guess the Kufatec must be on the CAN (despite the previous scan not showing it, which is the bit that has really thrown me) - however this makes sense as it interacts with the MFD.
I've enabled Telephone on the Gateway module installation list and all Status now appear 'OK', so I'm happy with that.
