Ok is there something I can check to fix the sound. RCD510 premium 8 stereo to RNS510 that might have come from a dynaudio system with the external amp. I can't get any sound out of the system and thing the coding needs to be changed.

Also original firmware and maps.
I will post the scan tomorrow.

The coding of the radio is different between Dynaudio and no external amp. The Long Coding helper should help you out.

The long coding I believe is the answer but not sure what the 2010 Tiguan should have or does have. So I can't determine what to select. The tiguan is the base model with premium 8 sound and no dynaudio sound but the RNS510 might have come from a dynaudio system. Not sure though it has changed hands now and who knows what it came from.

You have to change the coding of the RNS510 to use the internal amplifier.

It's very easy. Just navigate into all the bytes. When you see something related to amplifier, choose the standard one (I think it's the first choice).

I must be missing something. Maybe update the firmware. might be corrupt.

Looks like it might be the internal mother board on this one. I'll try a few more things but the no communication says IC chip on board.

I've had no experience with NA units, but last time I had this it was the radio board. Do all those faults clear if you try? Or do they come back again?

I'll try a firmware update from the 1140 it's at to 5218. If that is no good I'll try the chip bypass.

I´ve done a few retrofits with this unit. As I recall... it was a few years ago... there is a setting for external amp, if used. There is also a setting (a dropdown list) with different car models. Depending on what car the unit is installed into these are different presets with different sound profiles. This setting was sometimes necessary to change to get sound. And in Basic Settings you should be able to find a test function every speaker.

I've done a lot of reading and ya I have the long coding down pat. The highest revision of firmware I can't go on a North American RNS 510 is apparently 1140. Which is where it is at currently. So I would like to re install the 1140 and see If the firmware is corrupt at all and causing the issues.

Ok I have success!!!! I did a ton of reading the last few days and decided to re install the firmware. The highest NAR firmware that the RNS510 "C" can use is the 1140 which was installed. So it took a few days but I downloaded the 1140 and burned it to a TDK DVD at 8 speed and re installed the firmware and everything is functioning perfectly now. Took 50 mins so use a battery charger to maintain 12V. Sound is back and all CD/DVD/SD/HDD song play correctly.

I may tweak long coding for radio but currently it has sound.
