First post and also my first vagcom project.
Hopefully this works out and I can re-register my second hand cable. :thumbs:

Is it possible to enable DIS on an A6 C5?
My car came with CC installed but not DIS.
I'm guessing it is factory installed in all cars but just not enabled so you switch the wiper stalk and enable it via VCDS, or is it more complicated than that?

Anyone have any info on this?

Not sure what you're asking?

CC = cruise control
DIS = Driver Information System - the LCD display in the instruments

All right, let me rephrase that.

Is it possible to use VCDS to enable the DIS, aka trip computer on a C5?
I know you can swap the turn signal stalk and enable CC using VCDS, can the same be done for the wiper stalk and the trip comp, as in being able to flip through mpg, average speed and so on.

Yeah sure, I was just hoping to find someone who had actually attempted it and could tell me if it was possible or not.

Either way, it looks like I'm outta luck since I have the European split display and from what I understand that one doesn't have the capability to show any information besides outside temp.
Gonna swap to another cluster, with the full size display, from the same model and year and see what options open up.

As said above we need to see a full Auto-Scan to be able to tell you yes or no. You just might not need another cluster...

Hard to say. Usually it stores a time/date (not always reliable) and a mileage. But in your case neither seems to have happened. Since the codes you now see are read after clearing, you can assume they're current

The Instrument Cluster looks to be 'lowline' - and needs to be a 'highline' to support DIS. It also houses the Immobiliser; so you need to factor that in to any replacement.

Great write up!
I do have the midline at the moment (I think) so I'm probably looking at doing the exact same thing.

Actually I sent a question to my local Audi shop since I'm worried I'll mess up the immobilizer somehow, once they get back to me with an outrageous price that is sure to change though...

Any tips on what cluster I should look for, as in what part numbers? Seeing as the highline was available for my model year could I just get one of those and plug and play it? Or will there be modifications to the wiring either way?

For what it's worth, maybe someone else is looking for information regarding this.

It is NOT possible to enable the on board computer if you have the mid-line display, had to swap in a cluster with full display to make this work.
