Help with VCDS possible errors plus verification please.

Hi I am a new customer. Can you please verify me so that I can post in support forums. Thanks.

Until that happens I have some questions about VCDS

I am using the latest version of VCDS and a new HEX-V2 interface with a 2x2 adaptor
The car is
Audi A6 C4 1996 2.6

The initial scan seemed to go well. No apparent issues connecting and generating an autoscan.
I have attached the autoscan and my log.txt from the VCDS main folder.

Some of the entries state
No faults found
or DTCs not supported by controller
or a communication error occurred.

OK - so I understand that but how do I tell which of the reasons is valid.
I am pretty sure all the controllers in the car support DTCs
How do I know if comms errors occurred or not?

Does it look like its communicating OK to you?

LOG.TXT has nothing to do with communications with the car. ;)

But yes, those messages are indicative of communications errors.

The C4 instrument cluster is notorious. Even the original factory VAG-1551/1552 had to do numerous re-retries with it. It appears to use a software UART and the bit timing is all over the place. It gets worse with age and degradation of the electrical contacts between the cluster and the harness. First thing to try is to pull the cluster and use some contact cleaner/conditioner on the connector(s).

I'm not sure what to tell you about the TCU. I don't recall anything unusual about it.
