Hi all,

I am a bit puzzled.

After finishing a few retrofits I noticed an inconsistency between my car and Elsawin.

It’s a UK RHD 2011 (October) A4 B8 Avant. Low spec.

Both T17 plugs in the passenger footwell (bottom of the A pillar) are not what’s listed as being there by Audi.

There is 1 brown and 1 black, I chose a particularly thick Brown/blue wire in the brown plug, where T17g should be pin 17, to trace in the diagrams as it’s not a common wire and it just doesn’t exist according to Audi.

Help! Identify these plugs and their wires!

Is it a 2010, 2011 or 2012 Model Year car? - what is the model year letter in the VIN?

Model Year is more important than registration year, as that tells what the build state is.

That will make it a 2012 model.

T17g/17 shows in the diagram as a red/black wire from T8/7 (roller blind switch) to T32a/14 (BCM)

That is what I found in Elsawin but that isn't what is physically in my car. More quizzical is that I don't have blinds either.

I will head out this morning and catalogue what is in both T17 plugs and see if I Can work out what they are through testing.

Interesting that it is a 2012 model pre-facelift. Nothing about the car is 2012 apart from the VIN, was even registered/sold in 2011. So was it built using 2012 guidelines or something?

Well that soft of making sense, right? If you don't have roller blinds, then you don't have the wire from the switch to operate it?
I'm not familiar with the A4 and the location of the buttons, but maybe it's mirrored for the LHD and RHD models?
If you can document the wires and its colours, I'd be happy to cross-reference it to the WD.

Remember, the model year can sometimes be very different from the manufacturing year.

Ok, this is where the plot thickens some more... my car does have start/stop and that image is the wrong side...

I’ll have a look on my driver side and see what wires I have there.

That is the correct side but you're probably not wrong as every wire in T17G 4/6 and T17F 5/6 (in the second image, Passenger side) is wrong when referenced against the Audi WD. This is why I'm confused.

Here are the wires I have on the driver side (your first image)

12 - Orange/Brown
13 - Orange/Violet

Brown T17c plug in 5/6 of 6 pin coupling at A pillar driver side RHD

1 - Orange/Blue

Hm, strange. It looks like we're watching at the same diagrams and reach the same conclusion.

Yes. It is very confusing. The weather here is very bad today but when I get the chance I will test the wires and see what they are.

I was hopeful that it was just me reading Elsawin wrong but you are confirming my confusion ha ha.
