Hi,

I replaced my throttle body due to a fault, there was no cruise control before replacing it and there is no cruise control after replacing it!

How can I access the cruise control settings in VCDS and restore it to its correct functioning?

Thanks

let's start with an autoscan, see signature below
the car does have a cruise control system, i presume? if so, let's have a look at your autoscan and see where we go from there.

okay so you have a few DTCs in your system. In your ECU you can see the error from the CC:
17977 - Cruise Control Switch (E45)
P1569 - 35-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
You could see whether you can find the measurement value block and have a quick test of the set, reset, on, off and cancel button.
Furthermore, you can see whether the wiring is correct, verify with a multimeter according to the WD.
And last, but not least, if you checked the wiring and the fuse, and the MVBs are not conclusive, I'd replace the stalks.

I don't know what blocks to access or where to find them. That is why I posted in here.

OK, so I have run VCDS and find all my cruise control controls show as working in measuring block 66 but I still get :
1 Fault Found:
17977 - Cruise Control Switch (E45)
P1569 - 35-00 - Implausible Signal
Readiness: 0110 1101
How do I correct this?
And please someone put the forum back the way it was, this is terrible and you cant code the text for the VCDS data either

We have not changed anything about the forum. What kind of device are you using for the forum?

We've changed nothing! If I had to speculate, I'd say: Look for a "Full Site" link toward the bottom and click it?

Who the heck would have thought of that?
What on earth is that for?

How do I get my cruise control to work?

Well, on the "Full Site" there's a Style Chooser down in the lower left. There are two choices; '--RT' and '-- Default Mobile Style'. Somehow, some way, it would seem you got the Mobile one. ;)

How do I get my cruise control to work?
The fault code indicates there's something wonky with the cruise switch or the wiring to it. Usually it's relatively straightforward to confirm that by looking at the corresponding bits in the measuring values, but since you say they all changem I'm not sure what to tell you.

It coincided with the throttle body failing - and on the wiki about throttle body alignment it says it may affect cruise control.

What is the purpose of the mobile one? Is it part of an app? I didn't think that mobile devices could access just any part of the Internet or any old web page, just dedicated content or apps containing content access they download.

Yes, that's true, but the fault code you listed in post #7 quite specifically points at the CCS switches.

Cell phones have had web-browsers for well over a decade now. ;)

But you cant get any webpage you choose on a cell, you have to download the app for that service or store or whatever and view the content in that app - not the same content that we see on the computer.

Is there a cruise control switch on the clutch?

Uhm, every phone I've had in the last 10 years has had a web browser that can access pretty much any website. Sure, some sites detect that you're on a mobile device and try to get you to use their proprietary app instead. Personally, I refuse to do that.

Have you checked a repair manual for your car?

Yes, I'm sure it does. But I'm not sure whether there's a dedicated switch for that in your car or if that info comes from the brake-light switch.

Thanks Uwe, since a few weeks ago I've been getting the different colours and layout too. (W10/Opera) I just thought it was an 'improvement'. :D Back to the blue now..
