2005 Touareg 3,2 V6 - Blocking complete in LOW / LOCK

Hi,

We have a Treg that binds up complete / blocks as soon as
you try to drive in LOW / LOCK Mode.In HIGH it is driveable.
I know how the Cars do when skipping on curves due to old Software,
but this is something strange i never come across.

It feels like the ABS is completely blocking all Wheels.
If you force it, it jumps along a few Feet and then stops.
If you let it in D, with no brakes applyed, the car does not move 1mm.

When you take it from LOW > HIGH after it locked up, it makes
a Loud CLUNK Noise.It does the same, when you put in from D > N
while in this condition.

The problem is in D and in R present.

We swapped the Differential Motor (that has Index C already) with another Treg.
Took 2 Weeks to get a Car for that try.
The other one drove fine, this one still had this Problem.

The whole Center Differential was sent out to a shop for Inspection.
Works without Problems, was the result from them.

Car doen´t have a rear electronic Locking Differential.

I took 3 snapshots of the 22er, in HIGH,LOW and LOCKED.
Nothing really bad i would spot, except MWN 9/2 and 9/3 and 16/1, but
i don´t have a car to compare right now - and ECU has no errors

Any chance there is a frag somewhere causing a bind and what happens if you unplug all the speed sensors & for ABS?

I have seen a broken tooth that falls in or from bad bearing and when it frees up if blows through the case or makes that noise!

Don't force anything.....take apart for forensic visual inspection is advised!

Please observe SSP on low speed drive to break down & surmise mechanical failure point.

What i think is strange that the car seems to drive in HIGH,if there was a faulty ABS Sensor,
i would think it would throw a code, but i will unplug the ABS complete, just for a test.

A broken tooth could be, i don´t know how good the shop was and how deep they looked,
but even if not engaged, whats the chance of that not making a noise while driving.

I haven´t droven it on the street , because no Plate mounted....only across the shop ground.

And to reproduce it you only need 2m

CLICK & STOP - Switch

The car has the Problems as far as i was told now for over half a year...many people/shops
took a look at it.What was done before, i can´t say.

After looking at all sensor values and disableing ABS and looking for the right mechanical switching
of the actuator, the whole transfercase will be swapped next week with a donor Car for a test.
If it then runs, the repair company will get a few questions

The T-Reg is still not driving

Meanwhile the ABS Unit was sent in for Inspection, the Hydraulic-Part was
replaced (new), the ABS ECU was tested as o.k - Problem still there.

The Transfer Case was removed again and sent to other Shop, tested - no Problem found

We wanted to swap it, but the Donor One was different, so did n´t fit

The Automatic-Trans was took out and sent in for testing - no Problems found.

If you disconnect ABS, one or more Sensors, the Transfer Case automaticly defaults to HIGH
Mode (All-Wheel OFF) , and Car drives ok.

The 1C and 6E were replaced, because it displayed strange things and jumping around,
that Problem is now gone, but did not influence the Drive-Problem.
