Stuck in limp mode

Hello friends,

Need a little bit of help. For some time the car has gone in and out of fault alarm from the intake flaps but otherwise har run good, knew I hade to change the flaps sometime... Now three weeks ago on a 200 km journey the DPF light came on and soon afterwards turned into flashing glo plug light and limp mode. Scanned and found glogged DPF and throttel body J338 fault + intake flaps, now we have changed both intake flaps and throttle body and a new particular filter all aftermarket products but still can not get the car out of limp mode?

In addition to Uwe's suggestion.
Verify PSI sensors are not contaminated which monitor the DPF and ability to clear the DTC.

Recoding or defaulting the controller may indeed also be required to get the DTC to clear too.

I have tried resetting the particle filter and the pressure sensor G450 with no sucsess, I get a reading of -2 when engine is off on the G450 odd or accurate?

One of the pressure sensors in the DPF sounds like a possibiblity, have to check.
Recording or defaulting.... please elaborate.

Edit: I read the thread again.

You probably have a defective G450 sensor.

But, have you tried driving the car for a while in limp mode?

Please someone correct me but I believe that if the G450 is not defective the ECU will adapt it if you drive for a while.

The dash lights and limp mode will disappear. Then just clear the stored codes.

PS: Did you try this code in "Login II": 30605 ?

A pressure sensor reading of minus 2 KOEO suggests to me that the sensor is faulty, but your statement " now we have changed both intake flaps and throttle body and a new particular filter all aftermarket products" is also problem. After market DPF's are often (usually) inferior and give all sorts of problems until changed with the genuine part. You are better off getting the original cleaned out.

Cleaning out the original DPF was the first thing to do when I took the car to a local garage that hade some experience of cleaning DPF:s, at the same time we changed the throttle body and the intake flaps, then I drowe the car for 200-250 km with limp mode still on. It is possible that the original DPF could work if the G450 sensor have been faulty all the time since the first visit at the garage.

Yes.

If the G450 sensor is in a "limbo" mode (semi-damaged) it will take a while to the error re-appear and enter in limp mode.

I had this issue twice (with different symptoms) on my Golf MK5 and it was two bad G450 (first time it was the factory fitted part, second time was an OEM part).

First time: Occasionally I lose power... but if I remove the foot from the accelerator pedal and waited like 1-2 seconds, the error goes away and I get the power again. Not funny on overtakes :|

Second time: Always limp mode

As I am on my third G450, I have one G450 in my stock

I think that the second one was bad luck because the factory fitted part lasted 8 years.... but I prefer have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

My opinion: Replace the G450 as soon as possible. It is a cheap part even from the dealer. It is something like 50-60€.

Well I orderd one original today, will have it tomorrow. It was not really too expensiv, they askad 95€ for it and from Germany I coluld get it for 82€, not worth the one week transport time. We will see tomorrow what happens.

It will solve the problem

That sensor is a common fault on VAG cars.

Well, changin the G450 did not do the trick, and the IDE00467 don´t looks to be accepted by the ECU sice the soot mass is still too hig , over 85g?

I am not at all sure that I am doing the right thing, I think the cal.soot mass is in there somewhere and I can´t find it. When this is an UDS module it´s still seems that my options in the "pull down" menu both in 04 and 10 are too few.

Sadly Adaption Channels do not apply on an UDS controller.

I am focusing hard, there is some faultcodes in the ABS module that has came like a negativ bonus during this process, and I think they can clear if I get the DPF initilalized. But can the new throttel body J338 be still haunting this system?

Old-school adaptation channel numbers do not, but that doesn't mean there aren't named channels that have corresponding functions.

Yes, I just think the old system was better to use and there seems to bee much more help to get on the old system too. I have been reading a lot of threads on the subject the last couple of days and I wounder why there is only 14 different options on the pull down meny in 04 and only 15 in 10? Then I am not able to use the IDE00275 under 10 when I get message "channel not available"? Is this due to the car not using the cannel or VCDS not readig it? This seems to be some of the first ECU:s made by the new UDS protocol so does anybody think that a software uppdate could sort out my problems, or is there at all even an uppdate made to this ECU?
