Jetta Mk6 TDI (2014) Cluster Upgrade

I have a cluster from a 2012 European Jetta TDI that I have tried out in a NAR 2014 Jetta TDI. The first 7 digits of the part number is the same in both clusters.

I was wondering if you can soft code the new cluster prior to visiting the dealer and getting the immobilizer done? I know I could auto scan and see the cluster but I couldn't connect to it when selecting address 17. The cluster seemed to work and showed what door was opened or closed in the vehicle.

You should be able to communicate to the 17-Instrument cluster and code/adapt it prior to the Immo matching but the ABS brake module may dump/zero its coding when the VIN is missing. If you have any questions or concerns post the original Auto-Scan with the original cluster installed and another with the new unit installed.

Something looks very wrong with this scan and I don't know if dealer matching is going to resolve those Immo conflicts... or if it will even be possible for them to match it.

Please post the factory configuration (or pre cluster modification) scan and let us know what VIN is currently reported with the new cluster installed (it is clipped out of the one in post #3). Also, is that a new or used Euro market cluster?

The new cluster doesn't communicate with some modules. The "missing" faults. Seems like also your ABS is too old for this cluster.

Dana, the vehicle runs with this used euro cluster and the keys have already been matched by VW dealer. The VIN# is the same between the two clusters.

Yes it is a nice picture, but from the autoscan, it should be in the Central electric [09].
It is left to steering column, with 2 big connectors.

Thanks gentlemen! lol yeah I wish I had a gateway exactly where that picture show it to be! But the spot where the gateway should be is simply empty under the dash.

Does this mean that the gateway is integrated into the BCM/Central electric [09] module?

Would you guys know if its possible to just disconnect the built-in gateway portion? I noticed there are 3 pairs of connections to the BCM PQ25, as per the link below:

Is one of these the gateway itself?

Hi All,

To give an update, I got the car now running on a PQ35 platform. Did an upgrade from PQ25 to PQ35, didn't swap the harness but rewired. Added/swapped some modules etc. I used the Jetta GLi 2015 BCM and all works fine with PQ25 cluster.

One issue that has come up, is upgrading to the full MFD cluster. Although the cluster was tested and worked on PQ25 platform, now the dealer is having issues with swapping the cluster.

Essentially what they do is the following:
1) Ignition is turned ON
2) Copy config from old cluster
3) Ignition is turned OFF
4) Cluster is swapped
5) Ignition is turned ON
6) Config is wirtten to new cluster

The issues is that they can't get past item 4) above, because once you swap the cluster the ignition won't turn ON. They press the start button, and the cluster just shows 'NO KEY'. Does anyone know what the dealer is doing wrong, because obviously it doesn't make sense. I asked if they had something for matching cluster to KESSY, and they weren't aware of anything.

If they use the original cluster to power up ignition, and then swap cluster with ignition ON, the process goes through with no errors. After, you try to turn ignition ON with start button again, you get 'NO KEY' message. There seems to be something missing here, and its pointing towards KESSY which is working fine with old cluster and worked with new cluster on PQ25.

Fyi, on PQ25 I went from old cluster to new cluster, and back to old cluster. Now I am on PQ35 and want to go to the new cluster.

Swap cluster is easy via Dealer if all is genuine and right. ODIS / VAS is checking FAZIt data in ECU, cluster (if you have) and ELV. Dealer upload from server only few data to cluster , and other data is synchro while adaptation, that is why old cluster will not longer work. And every time they synchronize another cluster , previously will not work
if you dont have working cluster due to stolen for example, ODIS use differnet procedure, but also need to check all other available FAZIT data in controlers.
if you for example ever add NON genuine KEy , you will lost them while ODIS update .

All hardware and keys are OEM original.

To confirm, my understanding is the following: (Battery stays connected throughout the whole procedure)
1) Unlock vehicle, ignition is OFF
2) They swap clusters
3) Use fault finding with ODIS/VAS (Assuming that the appropriate modules will be ON on CAN-BUS)
4) Once fault is found, resolve each fault (I am assuming that there will be an IMMO fault or something to sync cluster)
5) Upload from server 'only', all data (They tried to copy from old cluster, and the clusters are different, so maybe here was the problem)

Could you please confirm the above, and adjust. I would like to provide them with a list.

Could you also comment, at what point should the cluster power up with KESSY. With standard tumbler keylock, apparently its easy they just turn the key. Here nothing will turn ON initially when you swap the cluster, and press the START button to turn ON the ignition.

I am asking because I never see in PQ25 platform ELV
