Earlier on in the week, I had the Traction Control / ESP warning light and the EPC warning light illuminate. The engine idled, but wouldn't rev. I switched the engine off for a few seconds and then restarted. This time, only the EPC light illuminated and the engine seemed to run fine. I drove for approx 15 mins when suddenly, while travelling at 70mph on a motorway, the engine just lost all power. I dipped the clutch fearing the timing had let go, to find the engine sat at idle and again wouldn't rev. I managed to get onto hard shoulder and switched the engine off for approx 30 seconds. Engine restarted, and drove fine for rest of journey. Read and cleared fault codes. I then decided to remove Throttle Body and gave it a decoke as I had tried to carry out an adaption which failed several times. Once clean and refitted, I successfully carried out an adaption. I drove the car today, it was okay for the 1st hour. When I came to restart after being parked up for 1 1/2 hours the faults have reappeared.

Ouch.

This fault: "16990 - Internal Control Module - Processor Fault - Intermittent" makes me wonder if the source of these issues isn't the ECU itself.

Not sure which route to take here. I can either take the ECU to BBA-Reman to be checked out and repaired if defective or see if I can source another ECU from somewhere. A lot depends on price.

Thanks for having a look for me.

Graham.

Took the ECU to be checked out. I have been told that the Ecu is not repairable due to corrupt data / internal processor fault , although it was passing the tests. I decided to buy a set of clocks and matched ECU. I fitted this to the car last night, swapped immobiliser in fob over to current key and started the engine. It still wouldn't rev above 3000rpm. I tried to carry out Throttle Body Alignment, but still resulted in errors. I decided to leave it last night and have another look today. Went to car this morning to find the battery totally flat. I had suspicions that a cell may be failing as it was 0ºC 32ºF in old money last night. Put battery on charge while I refitted original Throttle Body, tried to carry out Alignment but failed. Took car for a run once I managed to get it to rev above 3000rpm no load. Still had Steering fault and EPC lights illuminated. Couldn't even carry out basic setting on steering angle sensor. Decided to walk away before tools started taking flying lessons!!! Went to get something from shed and could here a faint beeping coming from the car alarm, but no hazards flashing. Then the cooling fan decided to run up to full speed then back off again. It did this several times. The engine was cold at this point. That's what probably flattened the battery. WTF is happening to my car??? Is it possessed!!!
If needed, i'll post the latest scan later.
Graham.
