    Mk6 Jetta MFSW retrofit

New member to the forum signing in!

So, the project I am currently workin on is to fit a MFSW steering wheel to my 2011 Jetta. The parts I have already acquired are the steering wheel itself (Mk6 Golf GTD), 2x repair wire (000 979 009 E) and the MFSW harness is on its way at this moment. So the only part I am lacking at this moment is the steering wheel control module.

So far I have been relying in these instructions: http://http://forums.vwvortex.com/sh...W-Retrofit-DIY

Below you can see the auto-scan of my car, which seems to tell me that the module I have at the moment is 5K0 953 569. There is an extensive chart in the ross-tech website of the modules, which also tells me that this module is not compatible with the MFSW. The question is that which module should I buy to make this retrofit work?

Steering control module with revision "CH" will support the buttons on the MK6 mfsw. You should also change your cruise control stalk to a new one with revision "G".

You can problerly also use another control module, but these I don't know of.

Thanks for the reply! So the correct module would be 1K0-953-549-CH and this will work even though the original module has a completely different part number?

And the cruise control stalk: wouldn't the correct part be 5K0054691D because of both MFI and MFSW? So replacing this part will remove the buttons on the right hand side switch, because the MFI will be operated from the steering wheel?

Yes - this will work since your car share same electronics with the MK6 golf.

Part numbers for cruise control stalk 1K0953513G
Part number for wiper stalk is 1K0953519H

Thank you for the part numbers! How about the wiper stalk, should it be replaced too or will the original work?

So these are the parts that have to be replaced:
    -Steering wheel (duh...)
    -Steering control module
    -Wiring harness
    -Cruise control stalk
    -Wiper stalk (?)

Is there anything else that should be replaced, such as the slip ring?

Wiper stalk will work without replacing. I did just replace mine to the one listed above to get rid of the buttons that will control the MFA. Don't like having stuff in the car with no function - your current wiper stalk buttons to control the MFA will not work once you install the MK6 multi function steering wheel.

Not sure what you have to replace the wire harness?

    Your slipring should be fine

Okay, will be replacing the wiper stalk then for the same reason.

From what I have understood, the wiring harness is required with the MFSW. The new steering wheel did not come with an airbag, so I will be using the airbag from my current SW and this one is missing one connector that plugs into the control module.

Let's give this thread an update. The steering wheel control module I bought did not fit into my Jetta, it appears that mine has the module integrated into the slip ring. The module I bought did not therefore fit into my car.

So I am planning to buy a new control module, and so far I have three options: 5K0-953-569-L, 5K0-953-569-AL and 5K0-953-569-H. All of these are highline models and support the mfsw, but does all of these fit or are there differences between these units?

Any help with this one? Thinking about pulling the trigger with 5K0-953-569-AL/H.

AL or AH should both be fine, both support MFSW buttons and cruise control. Only thing that is a little bothering is, that the Ross-Tech map does not show if your current control module has steering angle sensor in the module or not. It is TBD on Ross-Tech's site for your current module.

Also you have a new airbag wiring harness ordered for MFSW buttons? DO NOT use any repair wires and try to make it yourself. Buy a ready made wiring to be safe.

New wiper stalk is not mandatory as you can code the buttons on that out but of course for aesthetic reasons correct stalk is nice
