2007 Q7, rear end is fully jacked up, will not lower. The owner's of the vehicle purchased it used "some time ago" and it is implied that the vehicle was fine one day, butts up the next day, but we suspect there is more to it than what the customer is telling us.

01400 - Suspension Level Control : upper limit reached

A new pump has already been installed. We do some testing and can raise/lower the front end via VCDS, but the rear does not adjust.

Suspect the valve block at first, or maybe a solenoid valve in the valve block. A new valve block is installed, no change. It is then noted that when the air tubes for the rear suspension are disconnected, there is air pressure in them, but when them disconnected, the rear doesn't lower. On the Q7, each air strut does have a separate "damping adjustment valves" on them and it seems the front and rear are being activated by the control module, but still, no action from the rear where as the front would bleed down.

So.... the Q7 took this one step further.... there is a mechanical "pressure valve" for each strut. 7L0-616-814-B (page 511-007, item #10 for those with access to a parts catalog). At any rate, BOTH left and right rear valves were seized up. They were removed, soaked in gas for +1 hour then cleaned up as best they could be. Reinstalled and now the rear end will adjust and the vehicle is happy.

From what I can tell, these mechanical valves are not on the A6 and A8.

We kind of suspect there is more backstory on this Q7, but it is a mystery for now.
