B8 A4 Bi-Xenon Retrofit & Side Markers

Hello everyone.

I've run into an interesting predicament. For the past 5 years my car has had no issues with my Bi-Xenon Retrofit. I took my car in for it's yearly inspection and the mechanic tells me he cannot pass my car for safety due to the front side marker lights (amber light near the fender) not functioning. This is news to me. I had them off for 5 years and the same shop never said anything and always gave me the inspection sticker.

Anyway, the usual coding to enable the light is not working for me (09 - 07 - Byte 10 - Bit 3).

How do I go about troubleshooting this? Am I missing a code somewhere else?

The side markers are LEDs, so they probably aren't "burnt out". All other lights function as expected.

Bit 1 = DRL via Front Side markers?
Bit 2 = DRL via High Beams
Bit 3 = DRL via Fogs
Bit 4 = DRL via LEDs
Bit 6 = DRL via Side markers?
Bit 7 = DRL via Tail lights

Neither of those bits enabled the side markers unfortunately.

Any other suggestions?

could it be that they are physically disconnected from bcm?

I suppose it's possible.

The light assembly connects to a single wiring harness and I don't recall any warning when I bought the harness that the side marker LEDs would not be connected.

I'm not sure how I would check electrically if the LEDs received any signal. I'd have to open the light assembly to access the side markers and reseal, which is above my experience level.

Edit: seems like the side markers AREN'T connected on the harness. The harness is made in Germany, where their cars do not have side markers. I'll have to switch back to halogens....
