Gen4 Door controllers retrofit

Hi All,

I've installed some Gen4 door controllers to replace my gen3s.
The Gen4 controllers came from a RHD CC so they were already coded and parametized for that car.

I have the following problems:
-Missing calibration errors against both front door controllers.
-Autorun works down on front doors but they won't autorun back up
-Rear door switches operate in reverse ie push down and windows come up, pull up and they go down...

I've validated the coding against similar RHD vehicles (a B6 and a B7 who both have Gen4 controllers from factory).
I've tried turning the RHD bit on and off for rear doors, as well as rear door control modules bit on and off neither makes any difference.
I've run the windows all the way down and held for 5 seconds, then all the way up and held then repeated many times, I can't get front door calibration to complete.

Basic settings has a 'reset all adaptations' channel however even with SA code entered I get a request out of range error.
I tried comparing adaptation channel maps and then trying to copy system parameter block strings however I just get 'error 0x00' when I try and apply the new data to the adaptation channel even after entering SA...

Anyone have any ideas apart from going to the dealer for an online coding session?

You need to do basic settings to windows. Not with VCDS but manually.

Procedure :

Prerequisite :
Window completely up

1. Lower the window completely down and keep the window button pressed for about 5 seconds
2. Raise the window completely up and keep the window button pulled for about 5 seconds

That's it. Basic setting / calibration done

I've tried that a dozen times with no result unfortunately.
Rear windows will adapt but operate in the wrong direction. Which means comfort function has the rear windows opening when they should be closing...

Hi there, just to resurrect this subject, I've retrofitted gen4 door controllers to my 2009 B6, the donor car is a Touran and a Passat CC - and I've also gotten some controller mapping from a few other guys on another forum. Essentially I started with the issue that the windows would always auto-index when I opened and closed the door (CC has frameless windows, B6 does not). I noticed that I could complete the auto calibration and so the auto up and auto down would work but only if I didn't allow the window to go all the way down. If I allow it to go all the way down, it seems to stop just before reaching the end, and I actually need to press the window door switch down and hold it and it does go down further - but if it hits this intermediary window down position and the ultimate window down position the auto up/down, pinch protection, and the convenience close don't work (actually the convenience close results in a full auto window down SAFE operation - not good!).

Anyways I actually worked out the system parameter which causes the auto index and turned it off, I also found the adaptation parameter that causes the mirror adjustment to be 90 deg. out of sync (from a Tiguan map).

Anyways I was wondering if you or anyone else has solved the auto up/down and pinch protection issue. I took the step in May of actually solving the auto-index and I got that turned off but with the remaining issue of not being able to do the auto down all the way - and I had no errors. I also (repeatedly) tried to do the window calibration (probably like 20-30 times, with car start/stops, etc.) and could not get it to work. Recently I've actually gone and loaded all the system parameters (parameters system_parameter_0 through 15) from a Passat b7 (NMS) to the (right) passenger door controller - now it's actually saying I have a incorrectly coded door controller. I think it's probably because there is some remaining discrepancy in the rest (i.e. system data parameters, vw identification, etc.) - but I don't want to mess around with it blindly.

Hoping someone has some better knowledge on this subject than me..

Well, in my experience I would say its not advisable using CC door modules (no matter if front or rear) for anything else than a CC

Years ago, I inadvertently ordered a CC rear module and the windows switch indeed worked in reverse. Also when opening the door, the window notced down a bit (because of CC's frameless windows). Because door modules aren't expensive, bought a proper B7 one and everything was good.

Yeah, but for us here it’s difficult to find a b7 module supporting power mirror folding, and mirror memory.. really I want to know can I not just program it with adaptations, I found the adaptation to turn off the window notching and that has gone away now the only thing left is the adaptation value that holds the small window reserve at the bottom it seems.

All B7 RoW front door modules (3AA959701A and 702A) support the full range of features (puddle lights, exit lights, ambient lights, folding and memory). Availability in NAR is another thing

So lesson in buying this - usually the plug in connectors (the part that is actually the relay) seems to have the HW: numbers as above. The software seems to be on a sticker on the actual window motor. I'll just unclip and swap in the relay though when I get it - I did that last time.

So to summarize... I can spend a $1000 of time screwing around with adaptations, or for 50 bucks I can just replace the damn controllers and call it a day

..

If anyone else wants to dive into this further, I have found that System_Parameter_0 byte 11 (1E is normal, E4 seems to rotate the mirror adjustment 90 deg) is for the direction of the mirror adjustment knob ( i.e. for tiguans (?)) , and System_Parameter_0 byte 4 (window indexing on/off, off = 0, on seems to be 45)

it's amazing I found this post today, I just got my rear CC modules working on my B6 yesterday.

This is the bits to reverse the windows directions (7F) and stop the window indexing is the other (00). But I also switched the sw from both sides with each other, not sure if this is necessary. If you're interested, I can send a link with further explanation.

I'm currently looking, to see if I can get the rear door locking buttons working, for a adpmap from a NAR CC that came with this option from factory , if someone can help me out, I would be very appreciated.

Edit: Also didn't got the pinch protection to work, but last time I checked still hadn't solve all the problems though. Also, my modules were 3C8959703D/704D, yours are 1K0, so those might be different.

I actually just figured out yesterday how to get the auto up/down and pinch protection working even after fully rolling the window down on the front passenger window. I had mixed some values between two different B7 gen 4 adaptation maps. I think i found the specific value. I’ll check your post above and compare notes. If correct I have two new B7 door controllers to sell as I don’t need to swap mine..

It appears to be system-parameter_1 byte 9 need to be recoded to 9E. On my car it was 87 and setting it to 9E fixed this. I still went through and copied all the B7 parameters from my admaps though, just to be safe.

Good to know, I did it before finding the correct bits, and since there was no change to their behaviour, now I too think it is unnecessary. Didn't compare both sides bits though, can't be 100% sure.
