Tail gate / boot close from key on A4 B9

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to close the tail gate / boot from the keys on a B9 A4? I had an A6 as a courtesy car and I'm pretty sure that you could close it from the keys on that...

Does the UK trunk have a power motor? If not then no. In the US that is not an option. The reason the trunk pops open is due to the power release and then mechanically the springs and struts pulls it open. But it is mechanical, and not a power motor. You'd need a power trunk motor (typically replaces the struts) to get it to open and close. There are aftermarket kits that allows this as well, and connects to allow remote open and close. Similar to the power lift gates of minivans/SUV.

Don't know if it's the same as B8? but mine has power tailgate that would open from key or door switch as well as the tailgate but could only be closed by pressing the button inside the tailgate.

I modified mine so that it will open and close from the key or door switch but needed an add-on module, I posted a thread about it here; http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?8396-Remote-in-car-closing-of-tailgate&p=78270#post78270

Yes, all the UK Avant's have powered tail lift, but up and down. You can open from the key, the drivers door inside or the boot. However, the only place it can be closed from is the inside of the boot. It's bit annoying, but not the end of the world.

I'm not sure. My B8 didn't have a powered tailgate, maybe yours does as it's an S4? I think I'm going to need an add-on module to get this to work and I don't really want to go down that road - just hoped I could code it.

Can you post a Auto-Scan, or maybe only the information for the 6D module?

For remote trunk closing you might need to upload some parameters to the car, which won't be possible with VCDS unfortunately.

I was hoping the same with mine but discovered it wasn't possible, but fitting the module was actually very straightforward.

Of course it maybe possible on a B9?, hopefully someone on here will know?

I hope so

As another data point: I had an Allroad A4 B9 as a courtesy car (during one of my A4's many visits to the dealership since I bought it last year

) and that had the "Advanced Key" extra and I'm 99% sure that allowed you to close from the key and drivers door.

Coding the close functionality like the A6 and higher is AFAIK not possible - Kufatec has a module (same module as for the B8): https://www.kufatec.com/en/all-products/comfort-tailgate-modulee-for-audi-vw-skoda-seat-33801-n
