    Audi repair times?

    Hi

Has anyone got access to the Audi repair times? Ive tried looking on Elsapro (Erwin) but they dont seem to list book times for independent workshops.

    Audi S6 - WAUZZZ4F7AN055580

Need the book time for chaging the knock sensor? Elsapro list removing the bumper, radiator and intake manifold to change the sensor.
Autodata gives me 4.7 for intake manifold and I allowed 5 hours,
The warranty company are saing Audi book time for the knock sensor is 2.8 Hours <- which I think they are wrong

    Cheers Toby

Hello Toby and thank you for providing the auto-scan.

Yeah tell the insurance company to go pound sand because the intake is a separate labor operation on top of the knock sensors further acknowledged.

    5 Hours is light......

Labor operation below linked and I'd like to add that sometimes these sensors require a re torque after a heat cycle as per the TSB requiring the operation done a second time for the bonus round.

    Bolt
    20 Nm
Tightening specifications affect function of Knock Sensor (KS)
    Knock sensors
Contact surfaces between knock sensor and cylinder block must be free of corrosion, dirt and grease

Knock sensor (KS) 2 -G66- cylinder bank 1
Knock sensor (KS) 3 -G198- cylinder bank 2

Moving to General VW/Audi Repair because this isn't really a VCDS-related question.

Hi.. Just adding my two cents..

This is based on what I have seen when I was a dealer tech and what we had to deal with when it came to the 'extended warranty' companies and their idea of book times...

    - The Audi book time is basically 'light' due to the fact Audi uses it for warranty times.
When it comes to customer pay jobs, most dealerships in the states will take that warranty time (5 hours) and multiply it by a factor of 1.5, some used 1.6.

    - Audi warranty would pay the dealer the published 500 Time Units (TU) (5-hours) for a job. Where as the customer pay price was the 5-hours*1.5 = 7.5-hours.

My last dealership would tell the insurance company the price is the customer pay price of 7.5hrs. Then some how the service writer would get talked down below Audi's warranty time, uhg... and now ask the dealer tech to do the job for less. Instead of telling the customer 'your insurance does not pay for the whole job and you will need to pay the difference', like the rest of the insurance industry dose... that always pissed me off, not my car, why do I need to loose the time? ...

So do not let them push you around, it is their job to get the price down as low as they can and if they thought you would do it for free, bet you they would pay you $0.00..

The erWin sites may have Labor Times, I never had a look...

    Official Factory Repair Information

    Hope that helps,

    drpeter

Insurance companies are in fact the biggest non industry which purports lawful fraud through unjust enrichment & on the consumer and small business or even in some cases the government by vicarious tax payer.

Always take the time to lawfully shove it up the adjusters ass when they in fact deserve it.

I did try looking on ERwin first but couldn't find anywhere that listed Labor times so printed the repair procedure from Elsapro while online. (if someone knows hows to get repair times that would be handy)

I agree with you and we don't deal with warranty companies as a rule but as the car is owned by the mechanic who works for us i'm trying to help him out.
