Problem Reading Codes on Central Convenience Module

I have a 05 Touareg V8 and when I try reading fault codes on 46: Central Conv. I get no response from controller but everything else works with out any errors. I have also tried another module and it acts the same way. When I do a full Auto Scan it hangs, waited 10 minutes, at the module and I have to exit out for it to continue. Below is the full scan anyone have any suggestions?

See internal thread 4535 for identical behavior with this module's cousin in a 2004 Phaeton. We never got completely to the bottom of it; there was no urgency because I could work around it by using a HEX-NET instead of a HEX-USB+CAN, and I eventually stopped being able to reproduce it. It had something to do with timing and how many faults are stored.

Yes I have tried 2 different ones. I'm using a Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

About 2 months ago I could read codes through Auto scan but not in the specific module, I had 4 codes then. I couldn't clear the codes. I'm having issues with the trunk not unlocking with the front button and I'm trying to diagnose it, that why I want to see the codes.

I think it might be due to a known issue with VCDS. Or rather, a known issue with that family of CCMs that do a terrible job implementing the VW diagnostic protocols, which VCDS can almost always smooth over but occasionally it has trouble. That's what I was referring to above. A few people, myself included, have run into this before.

You're still showing up as a New User. Let's get you registered for support, then we can try to verify what's going on, and see if there's a way to fix it.

We'll need some VCDS debug information from your car in order to troubleshoot further. Here's what to do:

Physically connect to the car
Start VCDS
[Options]
Set Debug Level to 1024
[Apply]
[Select]
[46-Central Conv]
[Fault Codes - 02]
Take note of what happens, success or fail
Disconnect from that module and close VCDS

Then look in the Debug Sub-Folder; it should be in C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Debug\. Zip up the files you find in that directory, and email them to support@ross-tech.com. Include a link to this thread so they know what problem you're referring to.

I just checked and it looks like I can reproduce this on my 2004 Phaeton again, so I'm sending in my own debugs as well.

Great, it's a Heisenbug.

I may have seen some similar behavior myself yesterday. Send debugs anyway, and if you're able, try it a bunch more times to see if you can make it fail under debugging. You don't need to restart VCDS each time, the debug file will keep growing. Also be sure to try it both manually and via Auto-Scan. The race/timing issue we seem to be hitting may behave differently when accessed different ways.

I have almost the same configuration - Surface Pro 3 (i7 processor), but running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. I found "flaky" results when I connected the VAGCOM com directly to the USB (3.0) port. Putting a USB 2.0 Hub in the middle solved any connection problems I had.

Just my $0.02, YMMV.

I tried a couple of times yesterday and it it working perfectly fine with debug mode on and off. It's been raining for the past couple days so that might be what has changed. I'll try again when everything has dried out and see if that make a differences.

Hello. I have a similar problem on two different Skoda Octavia from 2011 and 2012. Although the ccm module is listed on the installation list while I perform an auto-scan, vcds is skipping the module. When I try to connect manually I get an error each time. I post the auto-scan below. Any ideas?

On older models where 25-Immo "redirects" to 17, address 25 actually responds and answers with, "Bitte Adresse 17 Eingeben". However on these cars, 46 does not respond at all.
