I am working with a 2000 A6 4.2 engine and ecu and I need to code it for manual transmission to get rid of the missing tcu code and fix the high idle issue.
I searched through the *.lbl file folders and I cannot find a match for this module ( 4d0 907 558 S)
After a bit more searching on the web I see that other people have had lots of trouble getting this ECU to work properly with a manual transmission and I'm starting to wonder if it's even possible to do with VCDS. Let me know what you think!

As a general rule MY 2000 and newer DBW gasoline ECUs (ME7) cannot be recoded between automatic and manual; there are different part numbers for the ECUs depending on the transmission type.

That said, the ECU hardware is usually the same and if you can find someone to put manual trans software into your ECU, you should be good to go. Of course, this assumes that there is manual trans software for that ECU and engine configuration; not something that's always the case.

Ah I Kind of figured that would be the case! Thank you for confirming :)
I think i'll be giving Breakout Motorsports a shout, Just saw their b5 4.2 swap videos and it looks like they have the right software for mine.

Again, thanks for all your help!

Uwe,
In AUDI is it not 100% that rule, As well in Passat B5. Most module can be recode for manual or Automatic.
