2009 Audi Q7 TDI TPMS Either fix or disable

Hey guys

Breaking my head with a 2009 Q7 and its TPMS System, can't get it to disable or work, either would be nice
So far i have done the following:
-Checked tire pressures in all
-Tried to disable by removing fuse to TPMS module, CAN Gateway remove module adr 65, and In instrument cluster Long Coding, untick TPMS installed = Doesn't work
-Replaced R96 Antenna under right underbody panel, code for it use to not go away when cleared, now it does. Code for it was 01833 Antenna for Tire Pressure Monitoring/Rear (R96) - No Signal/Communication - MIL ON
-Checked measuring blocks, no pickup of values from any wheel, all 4 have sensors on the valve/inside mag.
-Tried to play with TPMS coding change country to USA/ ROW and add +2 for extra load = no change in situation

Only code that remains in the TPMS module 4F0910273B and immediately re-appears
0521- Sensor for Tire pressure
004 - No signal/communication - MIL ON

now i saw a field in measuring blocks about battery age, are the wheel sensors integrating a battery? Un-replaceable i presume?

What TPMS controller are we playing with by means of scan or VIN?

I have an ass load of overstock on TPMS controllers if needed but the batteries in the sensors are probably kaput.

There are ways to take apart and replace them in YouTube how to videos....... I have had success myself and saved a customer over $1000 USD!

I am not unsympathetic to the system being a POS!

The force says there is good FOD and BAD FOD .......we know where I stand on the BAD DARK FOD!

This is a known good, working sensor? What did you do to wake it up?

The sensors on the Audi wheels are probably old.
But the one i took off for testing today from an aftermarket wheel is not even dirty, maybe 2-3 years old tops, and valve stem looks pretty decent too.
To wake it up, well tried the MMI set tire pressure and change wheels, what else can i try?

I've heard that deflating by some substantial amount followed by re-inflation will do the trick. Since it's loose and not supporting a car, I'd drop the pressure by 50%, then re-inflate. But, I think it might also take some rolling time for the system to learn that a particular sensor belongs to it, 'cause otherwise it might decide it owns the sensor(s) in the car(s) parked next to it...

Just another FYI I found ..............

If you can access the sensors and read them with an external antenna, this is always a good idea to check ID and broadcast.

In addition for sensors with weak batteries:

I have seen you get a few extra years out by taping a piece of copper wire on sensor and rim doing one loop around rim so it broadens range of the broadcast.

Basically a large antenna just like when a remote is with weak battery and guys put under chin to make their skull into a linear of sorts & to make the clicker work again for a further range.

Tried deflating one tire and putting back to 44psi as per B pillar label, nothing.
Mounted a wheel with a tire with another 433mhz sensor, set change wheels in MMI and still can't pick up a signal from any wheel.
Might try to tackle this from another angle, my buddy has access to a scanner that can wake up and/or see if an individual wheel sensor transmits something.
I think this will point the direction of the investigation.

Ok so here's the latest
The sensors all check out and transmit data when summoned by the reader.
Once awake, i tried going into the MMI and pressed change wheels in order to start the learning by the module.
If code is cleared this time it does not come back immediately like before but until next ignition key cycle
When igintion is cycled only code that comes back is:
01833 - Antenna for Tire Pressure Monitoring; Rear (R96)
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation - MIL ON
What basic setting does it want for that antenna i'm not understanding, my buddy's more advanced reader was asking for a security log in to the TPMS module but i think that requires the SKC of the car which is probably impossible to get, other than to bend over in an Audi dealership...

Oh and with nothing i did so far did the measuring block values fill up for any of the 4 sensors, everything including the ID is 0's or no value.

So if antenna was replaced, and WD for module to antenna shows 3 direct wires, that's it, what else is left??

If such a think is needed, it's not the "SKC" for the immobilizer (which varies from car to car). It would be a fixed security code for all the TPMS modules like that, but again, I'm not seeing it anywhere.

The autel maxi reads and writes the eeprom of the TPMS directly or by ram overwrite swap from reading and resetting the sensors manually at each respective TPMS sensor.

Then after completed the control module has a faulty antenna so it stops the ADP from being saved during next key cycle and displays the error because either there is a bad TPMS module, wiring or antenna to compare the reading from saved table upon boot from last value.

Keep in mind Autel makes a few different MAxi TPMS tools and the one pictured doesn't have the OBD function as aforementioned but can reset the transponder at each of the respective sensors.

I think it is time for RT to add to VCDS interface & to make a external key coil and TPMS exciter generator to do similar tasks and backups of transponders.

Jack, following your logic here, how does the battery reporting happen then via the signal transmission.
Why can we observe Battery status: OK on the reader?

I'm not so sure, it didn't even pick up the newer sensor i offered next to the antenna with another wheel.
That no basic setting code for the R96 is bugging me. I'll try to swap out the TPMS module with one from a Treg i got handy, to see what happens.
