Hi,

I have a Ross-Tech Hex-Can connector to read electronic codes and prime my TDI fuel pump.
My current car is a 2015 Passat TDI, type-B8 (different from the 2014 Passat)

It recently got cold here in Canada.
During this time my dashboard screen indicated to refill the Adblue tank.
I purchased more fluid and refilled the tank. The fluid was cold (-25 Celsius). There was about 50 km left on the countdown. None of this was ideal.
My car does not recognize the tank level changed, so I need to reset the level sensor. Hopefully now there is no mechanical problem.

--- How likely is it that fluid froze and damaged the plastic SCR tank, or could a low fluid level burn out the injector/pump or tank heater?
--- I am seeking procedures to follow for checking/reseting the SCR system, using VCDS.

Please provide advice. I can post my scans if required.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I don't see it. You joined the forum last week, and you provided a serial number, but that interface has never been registered with us.

Hi. Thanks for helping. I will check into why my Hex-can cable (which I ordered directly from Ross-Tech) is "not registered".
I used it to do an initial scan. Then I screwed up by deleting the codes. I then did another scan. Here they both are (I removed the unnecessary sections).

(I removed the unnecessary sections).
There are NO unnecessary sections when posting an Auto-Scan, context is important.

Clearly the OP doesn't want to follow any instructions at all.... this should go smoothly.

I removed irrelevant sections such as about the radio, and a side-marker light-bulb that burnt out...
My post was editted to show the issues that showed up.

What instructions? Where? I have been unable to find a clear procedure relevant to the 2015 CVCA Passat TDI.
I believe the 2014 and earlier TDI's use different procedures, and much more information is available.

This is all a headache for me, learning about the SCR system PLUS the Ross-Tech VCDS software.
In hindsight I recognize mistakes I made.
Anyways I am looking for help and useful information here (not sarcasm).

Start here: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/101/

Having a full unedited autoscan tells the forum what the car is equipped with. In some instances, an engine ECU fault flagged, could actually be a fault flagged in a different module, or a communication issue. This is why a full autoscan is important in diagnosing a fault first time, and correctly.

Now I feel bad that unlike the rest of us who want to fix things ourselves, you weren't born with this natural knowledge
I guess you'll have to stick to reading user manuals, forums and service manuals to get up to speed.

PS Get verified
PPS Post an auto-scan

NO section is irrelevant, often modules throw up sympathy faults, so knowing ALL the details of a vehicle matters.

My car is a 2015 PASSAT TdI (CVCA engine build).

Please advise how long should SCR metering/adaptation tests should take? I cancelled mine after waiting almost ten minutes.

Also with the car ignition kept on, without engine running, how long do the glow-plug circuits stay heating? I intend to run an extended test with a battery charger plugged in, but I am waiting for snow to melt outside.

Are there adaptation code(s) to modify, before running the SCR metering quantity test? This forum mentions this, plus a VW technical bulletin for installing new SCR pumps, specifying setting a value of "2", instead of "4"?

Thanks! I am learning also kinds of SCR Vag-Com sorcery lately. I will post lengthy auto-scans soon.

My recollection is it can be longer than that. This was from a VAG training video that I doubt is public, from many years ago.
